Australian cricket vice-captain Adam Gilchrist has welcomed his third child after wife Melinda gave birth to the couple's second son.
Archie Douglas Gilchrist was born at St John of God Hospital in Subiaco, weighing 3.4kg.
Gilchrist said both mother and child were in good health.
"We're delighted that Archie has arrived safely as a brother for Harrison, 5, and Annie, 2," Gilchrist said yesterday.
"Melinda and Archie are fit and well and our thanks go to all the staff at the hospital, who were brilliant."
Gilchrist will not leave for World Cup duty on Wednesday with the Australian squad, opting instead to spend time with his family as previously planned.
Despite the delay, he will be available for selection for all World Cup games and could line up against Zimbabwe in Australia's first warm-up match on March 6.
