Adam Gilchrist says Australia are not expecting South African crowds to go over the top during their tour.
The South Africa side suffered racist abuse in Australia and wicket-keeper Mark Boucher said this week: "I hope our public give them a bit of stick."
But Gilchrist replied: "A lot has been said, but I don't think that's going to lead to anything more drastic here.
"You expect to take flak anywhere in the world and abuse will be there, but I don't think it will be untoward."
Australia open their tour with a Twenty20 international in Johannesburg on Friday before playing five one-day internationals and three Tests.
"There's a lot more spoken about what happens on the field than what actually happens on the field," Gilchrist added.
"The hospitality in South Africa is second to none and we really enjoy being here.
"Everyone seems so genuinely happy to see us here."
