Aussie wicket keeper batsman Adam Gilchrist said on Sunday he was ready to get into the gruelling ICC Champions Trophy drill after taking a break from the game.
"I feel really good and fresh. The two practice games we played have just been enough to get back and ready to play. It doesn't take long to get back into it, such is the amount of cricket we have played over a long period of time. It doesn't take long at all to get into the mould," he said after a warm-up match against Mumbai.
Gilchrist scored 61 in his team score of 292/9 chasing a self-imposed target of 300-plus against Mumbai in a practice game at the MIG club.
The dashing cricketer has not played competitive cricket after his team returned from Bangladesh earlier this year and skipped the tri- series in Malaysia, which Ricky Ponting's men won last month.
"And today, I had an extended stay. From a keeping sense, 100 overs is an invaluable time compared to net training. I feel ready to go. I have been as fit as I have been for a number of years and have come back with a keener, eager approach," the flamboyant one-day opener said.
Talking about the team's opening match in the tournament against title-holders and qualifiers the West Indies on Oct 18, Gilchrist said it was an advantage to have played recently against their rivals in Malaysia.
Asked about the conditions at the Brabourne, he said "I have only seen the scores. We understand that the wicket is keeping a bit low and we will try and ensure that between now and Wednesday we sum up those conditions.
